Caustic soda
Caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide, is sometimes used in the tanning and processing of camel leather. In leather production, caustic soda can be employed during the initial stages to help remove hair and unwanted substances from the raw hide. This process, known as unhairing, involves treating the animal hide with a solution that includes caustic soda.
